Interest from drillers in the Utica shale play is moving south with activity shifting to about a half dozen counties in southeast Ohio, says a new report from the shale oil and gas team at Benesch Attorneys at Law. Harrison, Belmont, Monroe, Guernsey and Noble counties have become the drilling hot spot in the play, the report says, with the trend said to lead to Washington County where Marietta is the county seat.
