Interesting Fact about Snakes. Their tongue is their nose by which they smell by. The tongue picks up scent molecules from the air. As the snake pulls it back it they brush it against the roof of their mouth which have two flanges these in turn are connected to the brain. The tongue brushes against these and deposit the molecules on them where they are processed instantly. Thus the snake always flicks its forked tongue for its literally tasting the air. Their nose is strictly for breathing.
