Interesting analysis. I think it is wrong in a couple of areas. First - I do not think that the Republicans are held in high regard at the moment. The low polls for Congress show that. Several of those races will be tight with a better chance for Democrat retaining than Mr. Silver projects. Second - Grimes has an excellent chance of defeating McConnell in Kentucky. His advantage in money wont mean much. He and his positions are well known. Grimes has shown herself to be a good campaigner, and an energetic speaker. Being already even with McConnell, Grimes is likely to pull ahead when the real campaign starts. She is at least 50/50 or better to win. Third -- I believe there is fundamental misreading of Obamas poor poll numbers. Much of that comes from disappointed Democrats. Democrats who dislike Obamas actions as president are not going to vote Republican. They want more Progressive Democrats. Therefore, I believe a Republican takeover of the Senate is virtually impossible. I could be wrong...we shall see.
