Interesting day on the Island with CCU families - threatening to storm but never did. Nest #9 had another emergence last night (makes the 3rd one, I believe). One hatchling was still at top of hole this am, but retreated back in hole during the morning. To everyones surprise it emerged out of the nest around 11:30 am when Flossie was talking to a group at the nest. It was quite exciting for everyone out there at that time to see this hatchling make it to the water and swim away! Many thanks to Valerie, Kristin, Lyndsey, Flossie and Bill for spending most of their day sharing their love of sea turtles, our program and Waties Island! Also, thanks to Barb an Steve for getting all our props out there and talking with folks early in the day.
