Interesting day yesterday (6 AM to 7:45 PM) at the polls in Southlake, Texas. Southlake has, of course, predominantly White, Christian, and Republican voters – just like the rest of Tarrant County and just like the rest of Texas. We, the Republicans, had all the polling booths and electronics installed and running before polling opened at 7 AM. Our Democrat “friends” across the room were late to arrive and appeared amateurish. They repeatedly asked advice on how to set up their section of the room. In the first hour Reps. had about 60 votes vs. just 3 for the Dems. By 5:30 PM the ratio of people voting Rep. vs. Dem. was about 10 to 1. We had so many folk lined up to vote that the Dems. across the room had to lend us several voting (manual) booths to cope. At times we had all 8 booths occupied and several voters waiting while we could see that there was no one over on the Democrat side of the room. Tarrant county results at the primaries were predictable with most of the Tea-Party recommended candidates getting the nod and winning handsomely. Votes for Greg Abbott for Governor totaled around 85,000 vs. just 35,000 for Democrat candidate Wendy Davis. State wide, Abbott secured 655,000 votes and Davis just 238,000. A thoroughly interesting and rewarding day. Roll on Election Day in November.
