Interesting little debate. A friend shared a meme, and it offended - TopicsExpress

Interesting little debate. A friend shared a meme, and it offended one of her friends. The meme in question had Jesus Christ say did I stutter? after he told everyone to be nice to everyone and someone asked him about types of different people. One of her friends stutters and told her they were offended. When is it okay to be offended by what someone says? When do you just need to grow a thicker skin? My opinion is that if someone says something to someone as an insult, calling a gay kid a faggot for example, that kid has every right to be offended. It was a personal attack against them. If however a blind person hears someone say to someone else that the ref in some game was blind, should the blind person expect an apology for being offended? There are no guarantees in life that you wont be offended at some point. Aside from a personal attack, I think people need to grow a thicker skin sometimes. Agree? Disagree? What do you think?
