Interesting post. What was that, Uniteds starting team cost more than Citys last night? Rio cost more than Hart, Zabs, Kompany, Demichelis and Clichy put together. The five most expensive players on the pitch were Ferdinand, Mata, Rooney, Fellaini and Fernandinho, the one City player in that list won the MOTM. The cost of Juan Mata could have bought David Silva or Yaya Toure and still have enough change to buy Vincent Kompany and Pablo Zabaleta. One team played with skill and passion the other looked like a bunch of mercenaries, with the exceptions of Rooney and De Gea. As a City fan I get fed up of the bias media, soaked by the neutral fans, bemoaning the investment that City very fortunately came by. Martin Tyler mentions the money every game we play, yet never has a word to say on Uniteds expenditure. For a derby match Sky have Scholesy and Neville along with three ex-Liverpool players (of which Souness was the only great player of the trio), at least Scholes and Neville are legends of their club, Carragher was an average player and Redknapp is pretty but one of the worst centre midfielders Ive seen at Liverpool, where was the City related studio guest? Manchester City dont owe a penny to anybody, Manchester United are hundreds of millions in debt. The Abu Dhabi investors of City have admittedly pumped billions into the club which has given us an opportunity to challenge for trophies, however, have you seen the redevelopment of Eastlands they are single handedly paying for? On the other side the Glazers have plunged United into debt, siphoning off the profits and allowing Alex Ferguson to choose a manager who is hopelessly out of his depth and plays football that is alien to Uniteds ethos. As for the match, how did United manage to have eleven players on the pitch at the end of the game? Im positive that had a City player made a challenge like Welbecks or Rafaels off the ball incident or Fellainis elbow smash into Zabs face then wed have at least one sent off. Still we shook off the referees ineptitude to deal with the thuggish tactics and breezed past the worst United team Ive seen for decades by not having to come out of second gear for the last eighty minutes of the game. Yet were still the bad guys who are ruining football, scoring freely, playing fairly (Ive only seen one dive by a City player this season), we have a manager who likes his team to play expansive football, who doesnt need to resort to pathetic mind games and is respectful of the opposition. Our owners dont want to change our name or our shirt colours, they put their money where their mouth is and are respectful of our history into the bargain. We are lucky, very lucky, we hit the jackpot but now because of the ridiculous FFP ruling the chances of another club having a tilt at success has been eradicated. You can thank them lot along with other shortsighted clubs for introducing that, dont be so naive as to believe that its been brought in to benefit every team and save them from administration or worse, its there to maintain the traditional top clubs so they cant ever lose their status. Well done Manchester City for knocking down all the obstacles that are put in front of us. Youve made us proud, not that we werent proud before the money came in but for the dignity youve shown despite the disgusting attempts to undermine your efforts at every turn. Thank you Sheik Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan for making all of this possible, the impossible dream has come true.
