Interesting story on our local Reno Channel 4 (NBC) tonight. Apparently, Lake Tahoe has a higher fire danger this year because BLM didnt pay the tree trimming subcontractors 2+ years ago. As a result, the work was reduced this year and we have an increased fire danger in a drought year. The unpaid bill is a little over $2.5 million. Harry Reid said Feb 2014 that he hadnt heard about it before and he would get right on it. As of 4/24/14 nothing as been paid, BUT current aides came forward this week and admitted that Harry was briefed about the problem in early 2012. The BLM did have $600K+ to pay helicopter cowboys to round up and kill Bundy cattle though. Interesting how the priorities work out.
