Interior Design is offered this spring semester. Class: Archi 141 – Interior Design Ticket #: 3938 Days: Tuesdays (3:25 - 8:35 p.m.) and Fridays (5:30 - 8:40 p.m.) The Interior Design Program combines theory and practice, preparing students to succeed within the growing Interior Design industry. The course explores residential design and touches many aspects of interior design principles. Students will have tours to job sites, design centers, and manufacturing companies. During these tours, students will meet with people who are experts in their design fields. Invited guest speakers will offer first-hand knowledge with inside tips and personal experience. They will work on real projects with a client and contractors. This class will also provide an inspirational environment that encourages individual learning and also the skills to function within a team environment. During this 15-week course, the student is taken through the steps of designing a home from initial space planning of interiors through drafting the space on paper; interior manual sketching using principles of 1pt and 2pt perspective, detailed planning of each space, study of color and its psychological effect on the environment, interior design principles, furniture selection, window treatments, interior building materials to complete conceptual project preparation and client presentation.
