Intermediate Peloponnese, Greece Just back from our new intermediate holiday in Southern Greece and what can I say? It was simply wonderful in every way. We arrived to warm sunshine and clear skies Our spacious studio apartments overlooked the calm blue waters of the Messenian Gulf and were in the very welcoming and relaxed town of Kardamili – full of interesting shops and tavernas. Our hosts, Geraldine and Ilia, were there to welcome us with wine and nibbles on their private balcony and were eager to ensure our stay was as comfortable as possible. I was immediately impressed by the Korres toiletries – they cost an arm and a leg in Waitrose but are worth it! Our holiday was led by Caroline who lives half of the year in Greece and the other half in Newcastle – I know where I’d rather be (and I’m a Geordie!). She provided the perfect mix of guide, companion and host. Her extensive local knowledge meant that we were able to get a real feel for the area. The ancient pathways led us to tiny (and not so tiny) churches, sandy (and not so sandy) beaches, wonderful panoramic views across land and sea and a host of wild flowers. Walks were followed by time to shop, drink coffee or swim either in the sea or the pool – although I only went in on the last day and was pleased nobody was there to witness the endless minutes it took me to take the plunge! Evenings were spent in a variety of local restaurants providing really tasty and good value menus and wine sold by the kilo! I like that idea! Overall a wonderful break with temperatures in the low 20s meaning it was just right for walking. Just a bit of a shock to return to a rather cold and wet London! I would happily have turned around and boarded the next flight back to the lovely Kardamili….oh well, maybe next year! The photos are just a very small selection of the 100s on my camera. Stunning scenery.
