Intermittent Fasting is not a magical alternative to calorie restriction, nor is it the most optimal approach to fat loss, muscle gain or anything in between. Having first hand experience with the eating protocol, I found the shorter feeding window advantageous towards eating larger meals & hunger control. Why? Eating less frequently assists with controlling ghrelin production, the hormone associated with hunger. I like eating enormous meals & at the time I was struggling with portion control. Result. However - dont expect miracles if you are thinking of giving it a try - it wont assist with fat loss or muscle gain any quicker than a regular calorie deficit or approach to a day of eating - at the end of the day calories in vs calories out will still be the main determinant of whether you lose or gain weight & NOT when you eat or how long you spend in a fasted or fed state.
