International Festival is a wonderful celebration of the arts, cultures, and communities amidst us and how they immeasurably enrich the cultural landscape of Indiana. Thanks to the Nationalities Council of Indiana (NCI), Festival sponsors and exhibitors, everyone who share their talents and attend the Festival each year. The Festival over the years has grown in size and stature in the last three decades. The International Festival became the International Center of Indianapolis (ICI) first major signature and significant event. The future impact of ICI and its advisory group, NCI, on our City and the State of Indiana could not have been imagined in 1972 when ICI was founded by a group of very dedicated and brilliant community leaders. The founding members, including myself, saw the convergence of many cultures in Indiana as a new frontier of great opportunities to attract world-class talents and create an international spirit in the heartland of the Nation, the Crossroads of the America. Thanks to that vision, Central Indiana today is emerging as a premier cultural capitol in the Midwest.
