International Longshoremens Association, AFL-CIO shared a link Texas ILA Leader Urges Support for Export-Import Bank That Supports Thousands of American Companies and Generates ILA Jobs; Urge Congress To Support Reauthorization Charles Montgomery, President, ILA Local 1351 and a Vice President on the South Atlantic Gulf Coast District, is encouraging all ILA members to write their Members of Congress to Support reauthorization of the U.S. Export-Import Bank. “The Ex-Im Bank supports thousands of American companies and it is one of the most important tools we have to grow U.S. exports that move in and out of U.S. seaports each day,” Montgomery said. “In Harris County alone some 277 companies benefit from the Ex-Im bank and many of their goods are moved by ocean carriers.” ExIm bank is a vital tool for growth in my port and other ports in our ILA. It generates volumes of cargo movement in competition with many countries that subsidize their industries with direct government funding. We need the ExIm Bank to be reauthorized in this congress session. Without it we will be at a disadvantage as a competing nation. Follow the link below to read Charles Montgomery’s letter to Congress
