Internet videos of persons falling down, embarrassing or hurting - TopicsExpress

Internet videos of persons falling down, embarrassing or hurting themselves have become very popular and are now among the most shared items on social media. Modern times have made us in some ways more numb to disaster and pain, and have brought to the fore a perverse type of humor that might be seen as a coping skill in some circumstances when we perceive that we dont have the power to intervene. Trinbagonians have taken to this trend with the zeal of parrots on a mango tree, but many have now woken up to recognize that the real disaster is the state of our nation. Greed, disrespect, short cuts, and ruthless determination to retain power at any cost seem to be the order of the day. Once again the UNC are seeking to take advantage of the rhythm of change for their own narrow interest, and are telling our children that once something is to their advantage it must be grabbed at any opportunity. This is the bankruptcy of ethics that ANR recognised years ago, and ultimately I predict that this will be the undoing of the UNC yet again. This disaster in governance must not be viewed as a crash for mere observation and comment. As this aircraft plunges we must recognize that this is a flight we did not miss, and even though the pilot is unfit she is determined not to give up the controls. The discourse and events of the next week should encourage every citizen to get informed, get more involved and get even more active to build a better Trinidad and Tobago. The video aint so funny after all when youre the ones in it. And if you feel youre immune from the fallout kindly be reminded that theres no safe spot on a plane thats falling from the sky.
