Internship Climate Adaptation in Central Asia MicroEnergy International - Berlin Praktikum MicroEnergy International GmbH (MEI) is a globally active consultancy firm, based in Berlin, with a strong background in green energy engineering, green microfinance, sustainability, and management. The company has more than twelve years of experience in more than 30 countries. MEI provides technical assistance to microfinance institutions to develop financial products in the field of clean energy, climate change and environment in regions with poor infrastructure and low income. Description of the position: MEI is looking for a motivated Intern to support and coordinate the work in the climate change field. The new member will contribute with research related to climate change vulnerability and adaptation measures, as well as microfinance, in the region of Central Asia. He/she will organize and plan meetings and workshops, take care of general administrative tasks, as well as coordinate the communication among partners in Germany and Central Asia. Starting date: Immediately Location: MEI office in Berlin Anforderungen: Knowledge, experience and skills required: The applicant must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate programme Background preferably in Natural Science (e.g. Physics), Economics or Social Sciences Knowledge and previous experience with research on climate change adaptation (knowledge of National Adaptation Plans in Central Asia is a plus) Knowledge of climate change mitigation is a plus Knowledge of development finance, especially microfinance and micro-insurance Knowledge of climate finance is a plus Strong quantitative research methods skills and previous experience, qualitative research methods skills are a plus (development and evaluation of questionnaires, SPSS, Stata) Strong communication, organizational, intercultural and knowledge-transfer skills Excellent knowledge of English and Russian is a pre-requisite Excellent English writing skills Advanced knowledge of MS Office Package (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher and preferably Access) Experience working in the Central Asian region is a plus The Assistant will be mainly involved in the following activities: Supervise and conduct research activities and content-editing related to climate change adaptation measures (and eventually mitigation) in Central Asia Supervise and contribute to the quantitative and qualitative assessment of vulnerability to climate change Remotely supervise and participate in field missions to Central Asia Give support to the team during field research missions Contribute actively to the preparation, organization and moderation of meetings and workshops in Berlin and in Central Asia Communicate actively with local stakeholders and partners in the project countries Writing reports To apply: Interested candidates please apply through our online application portal at microenergy-foundation/employment/careers/index.php?m=careers&p=showAll
