Internship, Judicial Strengthening Program in Kyrgyzstan IDLO IN KYRGYZSTAN Since 2005, IDLO has been working with the judiciary of Kyrgyzstan on technical assistance, capacity building and institutional development programs, with the aim of building a just and well-functioning judiciary, which is an imperative for the sustainable economic and social development of this Central Asian country. Since, 2011, IDLO is working with United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on implementing the USAID/IDLO Kyrgyzstan Judicial Strengthening Program. This 5-year program aims to improve independence, integrity and human resource potential of the Kyrgyz Judiciary. IDLO provides flexible “just-in-time” assistance within the context of ongoing reforms and emphasizes the use of local judges and local legal experts with guidance from international experts. THE INTERNSHIP IDLO seeks an intern for an exciting opportunity to assist with implementation of a multi-faceted program in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Working together with Judicial Strengthening Team in Bishkek and the Central Asian Program team in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, the candidate will undertake the following duties and responsibilities: •Work with renowned international legal experts on timely delivery of the following outputs of the USAID/IDLO Judicial Strengthening Program in Kyrgyzstan: Judicial training; Legal resources; E-justice; Awareness-raising •Use innovative legal resources to undertake research into trends and best practices in Rule of Law and related topics; •In the framework of Results-Based Management assist with monitoring and evaluation tools for Russian-language projects; •Under the guidance of a dynamic international team assist with other day-to-day administrative duties as assigned by the supervisor; •Undertake research and analysis of donor priorities and assist with project development planning and contracting. This is a paid internship. IDLO does not cover any travel, relocation, accommodation, medical insurance or other costs. The intern must have adequate medical insurance coverage for the entire period of the internship. The duration of the internship is initially 3 months with a possibility to extend. IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE IDLO seeks an intern with a genuine interest and passion for the Organization’s mission, in particular, for our activities in Central Asia. The ideal candidate will have: •An undergraduate degree in law, social sciences, politics, international relations, development studies or similar field is required. A master’s degree in a similar area is beneficial. •Excellent command of written and spoken English and Russian, strong demonstrated ability to draft, layout and revise legal documents; •Advanced computer expertise, in particular with databases, power point, editing, publishing software and social networks. •Ability to multitask in a fast paced international environment, working both independently, as well as acting as a strong team player; •Strong research skills, in particular comparative legal research; •Solid organizational skills.
