Interview Introducing a new shirt sponsor Submitted : 6th July 2014 Commercial Director Stephen Dickson introduces a new shirt sponsor for Linfield FC. Im delighted to welcome on board Mr Stephen Mooney as new sponsor of the Linfield shirts supplied by Nike. In these economically difficult days, its great that Mr Mooney is backing the club in such a positive way. Attracting sponsorship has proven to be very difficult, as money is very tight in the market place and so for this young man to come forward and support our club in a really tangible and meaningful way, is just tremendous. Hes a young Linfield supporter whos been very much involved over the years in various Testimonials - Michael Gault, William Murphy, Jim Ervin and Glenn Ferguson. He has sponsored tables at events. He has sponsored matches and match balls. He has continuously sponsored Linfield in many diverse ways and this opportunity has come up for this young local entrepreneur and Linfield supporter to get involved in helping the club in the form of this shirt sponsorship. Its a chance that doesnt come around very often and I would ask our supporters to appreciate and support this young man who has come forward to help the club with his great financial backing. Ive known his father since my childhood and Ive known Stephen since he was a very young boy. Hes been a great help to Linfield through his very successful and popular local business. Hes working at the coal face so to speak, dealing with and serving many of our supporters on a daily basis. His business is of course in a strong traditional Linfield supporting area. The Shankill is of course well known for being one of the heartlands of the Linfield support. Hes never lost his Shankill roots and connections, despite living in the East of the city for a number of years. Im delighted to welcome him onboard as team shirt sponsor on a one year deal and I know hes very enthusiastic about backing the club in this manner. It will be a pleasure to work with him and Im looking forward very much to what Im sure will be a partnership that will prove to be of benefit to both parties. The new Linfield shirt with the Mooneys logo will be worn for the first time at our opening league game away to Portadown on Saturday August 9 and I know that thats an occasion hes looking forward to immensely and it will be a proud day for Stephen, his family and his business. At present supporters are buying the Linfield shirt without a sponsors logo. However, in around 2 weeks time, supporters buying the shirt will have the option to buy the shirt with the logo added to it. This facility to add on the sponsors logo will be available in house - in the Shankill Superstore. We have purchased a new machine to add logos, names and numbers and weve ordered the logos and at present were just waiting on our supplier to deliver the sponsors logo. Im told it could take up to 2 weeks for everything to be in place for us to be able to add the sponsors logo to shirts in the Shankill Superstore. Supporters will pay £5 to have the sponsors logo added to the Linfield shirt and the really good news is that Linfield and Mooneys have agreed that the £5 contribution for the sponsors logo will be a further donation to our official nominated charity - the Northern Ireland Childrens Hospice. Supporters who have already bought the shirt without a sponsors logo will be able to bring it back to the Shankill Superstore in due course and they will be able to pay £5 to have the logo added to their shirt, while they wait. I would of course encourage our supporters to pay the additional £5 to have the sponsors logo added to the shirt, as this will enable the club to raise further valuable and much needed funds for such a great cause as the Childrens Hospice. Supporters will be well aware that the club and our supporters have raised in excess of £18,000 for this great cause in the space of a year and hopefully, this figure can increase significantly over the course of the next year. Linfieldfc will of course inform supporters when the facility is in place for supporters to call back with their shirts and pay the extra £5 to have the sponsors logo added to their shirts and I know I can rely on the generosity and kindness of our loyal support in wanting to help the Childrens Hospice to continue to carry out their vital work on behalf of young people in need and their families across Northern Ireland.
