Intimate communion with God in Christ moves us toward a true deification. This is not a mere metaphor, because by our incorporation into Christ, we are really made a partaker of the divine nature [2 Peter 1:4]. This does not involve a change in mans essence, but entails an indwelling of Gods Spirit within the human person, enlivening both body and soul to everlasting life. And it is all by grace in the Spirit. Wow!
