Introducing Herbie! I am conscious of making replies on this wonderful friendly and informative site but have yet to formally introduce myself and my beloved hound. Herbie my 11 yrs 3 months and counting Greyhound was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in the hind leg in November last year. He had an amputation but two days later whilst recovering at home he suffered a severe internal bleed resulting in him being rushed to a Vet Hospital where he spent 5 days fighting for his life. Fortunately Herbie did recover and has since started chemotherapy. He had his 3rd session last week. Herbie has also started having weekly Hydrotherapy in a water-treadmill which he doesnt take to naturally lol but with encouragement and lots of reward of his most favourite thing in all the world SAUSAGES, Herbie puts in a stirling effort as he hops towards his prize, which is dangled infront of him at all times. I was recommended this site by somebody on Greyhound Gap and I have found the support and advice invaluable. It means so much more to be able to express not only your fears and worries but also to able to share your hounds achievements with people who are going through similar situtations. Herbie is now 2 1/2 months post-amp and doing well. He cannot walk as far as he use to but he is an older dog and considering all that hes been through he has adapted very well. We treasure every day with him now as each day is a bonus and try to help get as much out of life as he possibly can. Hello to all you other wonderful, terrific tripods and their famillies, your stories are both informative and moving. Keep up the good work folks!
