Mr. Harbeson will explain these changes so that you can remain in compliance. Mr. Harbeson previously served for five years as managing attorney of the enforcement section of the Motor Vehicle Division, Texas Department of Transportation. He was in private practice for nine years and also served in other state leadership roles. 10:15 – 10:45 a.m. Break Sponsored by McGraw Group 10:45 – 11:30 a.m. State Comptroller Update Lavonne Key, Tax Policy Specialist, Sales and Motor Vehicle Tax Section, Tax Policy Division, Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts Sales tax and motor vehicle tax are two issues that dealers are required to remain informed about to avoid costly penalties and fines. This is an opportunity for you to remain current and have all of your questions answered. Ms. Key responds to requests, researches questions and speaks to industry and taxpayer groups on state and local sales and use tax, and motor vehicle sales tax policies. Previously, Key worked at the Comptroller’s Tax Assistance Division where she provided taxpayer service and answered questions on a wide range of taxes, including sales, franchise, motor vehicle, motor fuels, and others. In addition, she developed a Motor Vehicle Tax Training Guidebook and provided Motor Vehicle Tax training for 8 years. 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Texas Economic and Fiscal Outlook James LeBas, Capitol Dome Partners LeBas is the state’s former chief revenue estimator and is now a consultant on Texas tax and fiscal matters to such organizations as RackSpace Hosting and HEB Grocery Company.
