Inígenas genocide of people in Brazil Aty Guasu has received and published the following letter from Guarani Kaiowa community from tekoha TEYI JUÇU And PINDO ROKY, in Caarapo-MS-BRAZIL. Letter from the Guarani Kaiowa community of Teyi Juçu, Pindo Roky, Teyi Kue – Caarapó – MS. To: The President of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff, the president of the Brazilian Supreme Court (STF), and all national and international societies, organizations authorities, United Nations, and the like. We are the representatives and community leaders of Guarani Kaiowa occupants at our traditional land, referred here as tekoha, named TEYI JUÇU and PINDO ROKY – located at the Municipality of Caarapó – Mato Grosso do Sul state (MS), Brazil. We come through this to communicate to all authorities of Brazil and societies of the world about our final decisions. First and foremost, remember that we are an indigenous / native Guarani and Kaiowa people, originated from our tekohas of Teyi Juçu, Pindo Roky and Javoraí. Although our communities are haunted with death threats we have resisted until now; our grandparents were expropriated of our traditional land of Teyi Juçu in the mid-1960’s and then were expelled by farmers, for this reason we have claimed the demarcation and return of our lands since 1980, but neither the federal government nor the courts of Brazil have demarcated them until today, they affirm that our lands are currently under technical archaeological investigation, that the papers are ready, that there will be demarcation, but it has been more than 20 years and we are deceived by the government of Brazil. We are tired of waiting any longer for the government’s demarcation, therefore, on December 7th 2014, we began to reoccupy what is just a part of our traditional lands of Teyi Juçu, this movement of reoccupation and reclaiming of Teyi Juçu is our decision as the Guarani and Kaiowa, this is our people’s decision. It has been backed by all the 20+ Guarani Kaiowa tribes as well as from our great assembly, the Aty Guasu. Today we are united and resistant indigenous peoples and we make it clear to everyone that this is our final decision and that the Guarani and Kaiowa mobilization is here to stay. This movement is from the Guarani Kaiowa from the Teyikue Reserve, supported by more than 40,000 indigenous people from all the villages and Indigenous Reserves. It is a whole movement for the demarcation of our tekoha and to stand against all the violence promoted by farmers and their organizations. We are no Paraguayans, no! We are Not non-indigenous, white, strangers. YES! THE GUARANI KAIOWA HAVE RETURNED HERE IN TEYI JUÇU TEKOHA!! WE ARE GUARANI KAIOWA INDIANS, WE ARE RESISTING HERE, FACE TO FACE WITH GUNMAN, NO RECOIL. We know what image farmers portrait in their press, as if they were the good guys, spreading that they are always nice to the Indians. This farmers’ version is simply not true, given that until recently farmers have killed many Indians, and still continue to attack and murder our people, farmers have also expelled us from our indigenous lands and still carry on the massacre of the Guarani Kaiowa; now that is the truth. WE ASK FOR JUSTICE AND PUNISHMENT TO ALL THE FARMERS THAT KILLED. On February 16th , 2013, one of the killer farmers have murdered young indigenous DENILSON BARBOSA. This farmer is called ORLANDINO BEZERRA CARNEIRO and he has declared during his confession to the police chief that: I shot the Indians and yes I killed the Indian, it was me yet he was not punished for that crime, so its a lie when farmers do not disclose attacked communities. In fact, yes, farmers and their gunmen have surrounded and attacked us here in TEYI JUÇU tekoha on the 07th, 08th and 9th of December 2014. For these three consecutive days gunman have surrounded us, shooting towards the children and the elderly. During the attack, in the middle of the shootings and the smoking guns, a Kaiowa girl just disappeared! We haven’t been able to locate her ever since. Yes, the farmers continue to threaten us. Given this gunmen siege, the declaration of new attacks and the death threat to our leaders by farmers, we have decided to stay and live here in tekoha Tey’i Juçu. Here we will fight and resist, it is the decision of the Guarani and Kaiowa peoples. We ask the federal government to immediately demarcate the tekohas of TEY’I JUÇU, PINDO ROKY, and ALL OTHER GUARANI KAIOWA TEKOHAS. We are sending our decision to all federal authorities and societies saying, that we, Guarani and Kaiowa, have resumed reclaiming e reoccupying a very small piece of our traditional lands, and we will no longer wait for the governments promises, asking us to wait forever. Before we continue the reclaiming of our ancestral lands, we urgently expect a positioning by the President Dilma Rousseff on these issues. To finish we make it clear that everyone here in tekoha Tey’i Juçu have resumed the leadership mobilization from Aty Guasu IN A MOVEMENT OF INDIGENOUS RESISTANCE, WE THE GUARANI KAIOWA PEOPLE TOGETHER WITH TERENA PEOPLE AND THE OTHER INDIGENOUS ETHNICITIES FROM MATO GROSSO DO SUL. We are aware of the dangers we suffer from this gunman’s siege, the same happens with our constitutional rights at the federal congress and senate, our rights are also at risk of being suppressed with the many proposed changes in the indigenous legislation, so we will not back down. We will tenaciously fight for our lands at all costs, we are one people with more than 50 thousand, and we have already invited all other state’s indigenous ethnicities such as the Terena and the Kadiwéu people to support us in this reclaiming of our traditional lands. Nós representantes e lideranças das comunidades Guarani e Kaiowa reocupantes da terra tekoha tradicional TEY’I JUÇU E PINDO ROKY-Caarapo-MS, vimos através desta carta comunicar as nossas decisões definitivas às todas autoridades sociedades do Brasil e do Mundo. A princípio nós somos um povo indígena/nativo Guarani e Kaiowa, somos originários de nossos territórios tekoha Tey’i Juçu, Pindo Roky, Javorai, somos comunidades ameaçadas de morte sim, resistimos até hoje, os nossos avô e avós foram expulsos e expropriados recentemente de nossas terras tradicionais Tey’i Juçu em meados de 1960, pelos fazendeiros, por essa razão nós reivindicamos a demarcação e devolução de nossas terras desde 1980, mas o governo e justiça federal do Brasil até os dias de hoje não demarcou, afirma e alega que as nossas terras se encontram em estudo, está no TAC, que será demarcada, mas já passaram mais de 20 anos, estamos enganados e fomos enrolados pelo governo do Brasil, cansado de esperar a demarcação, por essa razão, no dia 07 de dezembro de 2014, começamos a reocupar e retomar uma parte de nossas terras tradicionais TEY’I JUÇU, esse movimento de reocupação e retomada de TEY’I JUÇU é a nossa decisão como povo Guarani e Kaiowa, é decisão de comunidade, apoiada sim de todas as comunidades de mais 20 aldeias Guarani e Kaiowa, e de Aty Guasu, hoje somos povos indígenas unidos e resistentes, deixando evidente para todos que essa é a mobilização permanente e decisão definitiva do povo Guarani e Kaiowáa. Esse movimento é do povo indígena Guarani e Kaiowa de Reserva Teyi’kue, apoiadas de mais de 40 mil indígenas, de todas as aldeias e Reservas indígenas. É movimento pela demarcação do tekoha. contra as violências promovidas pelos fazendeiros e suas organizações. Aqui não existem “paraguaios” não! Nem pessoas estranhas não-indios “brancos”. Aqui no tekoha TEY’IJUÇU VOLTARAM REOCUPAR GUARANI E KAIOWA SIM! SOMOS INDÍGENAS GUARANI E KAIOWA, ESTAMOS AQUI RESISTENTES FRENTE A FRENTE COM PISTOLERIOS, NÃO RECUAMOS. Sabemos que os fazendeiros divulgam na imprensa dele, como fossem bonzinhos, alegando que sempre eles seriam bonzinhos com os indígenas. Essa versão dos fazendeiros não são verdades, os fazendeiros já mataram vários indígenas no passado recente, e continuam atacando e assassinado indígenas sim, expulsaram os indígenas de terras indígenas, e continuam massacrando e matando nos indígenas Guarani e Kaiowa, essa é a verdade. Pedimos JUSTIÇA, E PUNIÇÃO AOS FAZENDEIROS ASSASSINOS. No dia 16 de fevereiro de 2013, um dos fazendeiros assassinou o jovem indígena DENILSON BARBOSA. Esse fazendeiro ORLANDINO BEZERRO CARNEIRO declarou e confessou ao delegado da polícia assim: “ eu atirei nos índios e matei o índio sim, fui eu ”, mas não foi punido pela justiça, por isso é mentira quando os fazendeiros divulgam não atacaram às comunidades. De fato, os fazendeiros e seus pistoleiros cercaram e atacaram nós sim, aqui no tekoha TEY’IJUÇU, nos dia 07, 08, e 09 de dezembro de 2014, os três dias consecutivos cercaram nos sim, atiraram em direção das crianças e idosos sim. Durante o ataque e nos meios de tiroteios e fumaças de balas, uma menina indígena Kaiowa sumiu sim! Até hoje não conseguimos localiza-la. Os fazendeiros continuam ameaçando nos sim. Diante desse cerco de pistoleiros e anúncio de mais ataque e ameaça de morte às lideranças e as comunidades por fazendeiros, nos decidimos em permanecer e morar aqui no tekoha TEY’I JUÇU, aqui vamos lutar e resistir, é decisão de um povo Guarani e Kaiowa. Pedimos ao governo federal para demarcar imediatamente o tekoha TEY’I JUÇU, PINDO ROKY, E TODAS OUTRAS TEKOHA GUARANI E KAIOWA. Encaminhamos a nossa decisão a todas as autoridades federais e sociedades, nós Guarani e Kaiowa voltamos sim retomar um pedacinho de nossas terras tradicionais, não vamos aguardar a promessa do governo, so mandar nós esperar eternamente. Antes de continuarmos a retomada de nossas terras aguardamos a posição urgente da presidenta da República Dilma Rousseff. Por fim deixamos claro a todos que aqui no tekoha TEY’I JUÇU recomeça a mobilização das lideranças do Aty Guasu e movimento de RESISTÊNCIA do povo indígena GUARANI, KAIOWA,TERENA, ETC. Sabemos que aqui estamos sofrendo cerco de ameaça de pistoleiros, lá no Congresso e na Câmara Federal os nossos direitos sofrem também ameaça de alteração, por isso, não vamos recuar, vamos lutar firme pelas nossas terras, custe o que custar, nos somos um povos, mais de 50 mil, já convidamos a todos os povos INDÍGENAS como o povo Terena, Kadweu para apoiar nos nessa retomada de terras tradicionais. NOSSA DECISÃO É NÃO RECUAR, VAMOS AVANÇAR NA RECUPERAÇÃO DE NOSSOS TEKOHA SIM.
