Iowa Western Community College - Manufacturing Coordinator (IA9481025) Qualifications: Education: A Bachelors degree in manufacturing, business or related field preferred. Certifications or specialized training relating to technical industrial training will be given preference. Experience: Minimum three years of experience in manufacturing with strong background in industrial technology. Qualified candidates should have a strong background in training, instruction, manufacturing, technology, or related fields. Job Duties: Job Summary: The Manufacturing Coordinator will focus on developing curricula for manufacturing training programs that will be offered in the Continuing Education Department. This position will require the candidate to perform classroom instruction as required. Manufacturing topics related to industrial technology, such as, power systems, electrical applications in industry, automation, measurement systems, blueprints, fabrication techniques, mechanical systems, and related topics will be developed for instruction. This position is grant funded for 3 years with the potential of being permanent. Typical Physical Demands: Requires prolonged standing or sitting. Requires frequent bending, stooping or stretching. May require light lifting. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. Requires ability to distinguish letters or symbols. Requires the use of office equipmen, such as, computer terminals, calculator, telephone, faxes, and copiers. Typical Working Conditions: Work is routinely performed in an office environment. Frequent contact with internal and external customers is required. Travel is required. Duties: Develop a Production Technician Program, Industrial Technician Program and other classes and programs as assigned for the Continuing Education Department. Person will work in close conjunction with the Continuing Education Dean, the Economic and Workforce Development Department and the Continuing Education Trades Coordinator. Work in cooperation with the Corporate Navigator to determine skills needed to pursue employment in the manufacturing industry. Make connections with Manufacturers to gain commitment to hiring those individuals upon completion of the Manufacturing certificate programs. Assist students with job placement upon completion of Certificate program. Work in Cooperation with the HISET, WIA, GAP and PACE staff to identify low skills individuals needing to upgrade their skills in order to pursue gainful employment. Recruit, assign and evaluate Instructors who teach in the Manufacturing Certificate Program. Arrange for procurement of materials, equipment and supplies necessary for classes and programs. Initiate brochures and advertising by other media to insure public awareness by all individuals who may be interested in attending a program. Implement internet marketing strategies for promotion of programs. Provide classroom instruction on certain manufacturing topics. Develop a working knowledge of credit instruction programs and formats, non-credit programs and formats, contract training programs, and similar workforce development resources. Work with the credit and continuing education department to develop a pathway for students from non-credit to credit programming. This includes working with the Pathway Navigator on identifying pre-pathway competencies for students entering the manufacturing pathway. Market and recruit students to credit and non-credit manufacturing training programs. Oversee the implementation of the National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) in the signature manufacturer program and throughout Iowa Western Community College. Participate in personal and professional development activities to stay current on new developments, topics, and programs in the field. Maintain appropriate and accurate files and records and adhere to the administrative functions of the position. Assist the Dean of MEIT with duties associated with the grant. Perform other duties as assigned. Must be a self-motivated, energetic and creative individual with strong personal computer skills and proven success working within a team-based environment. Must have excellent customer service, communication and promotional skills. Must be able to work independently, accept responsibility with limited supervision, manage multiple tasks to completion, and work with frequent interruptions. Must have strong organization skills and attention to detail. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must possess excellent human relations skills. Must have own transportation to travel to businesses and agencies, meet with College and community personnel and clients. Strong, knowledge of skills in manufacturing, communication, and interpersonal skills. Salary Range: To be determined.
