Iran invites India, Pakistan to show restraint TEHRAN – Iran has invited India and Pakistan to show restraint and defuse the tension along the disputed border in Kashmir through peaceful means. Pakistan accused Indian troops of firing shells across the disputed border in Kashmir on Monday and tensions ran high in both countries after last week’s killing of Indian soldiers set off a wave of skirmishes between the two countries, according to Reuters. “We hope that the issues between the two countries… will be resolved through dialogue and peacefully,” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Araqchi told his regular press briefing in Tehran on Tuesday. “We believe in the wisdom of the leaders of the two countries.” Ankara has sought Tehran’s mediation in Turkish pilots’ abduction case Elsewhere in his remarks, Araqchi confirmed the reports that Turkey had asked Iran to mediate in the case of two Turkish pilots recently abducted in Lebanon. Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has held a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Ali Akbar Salehi, asking Iran to help obtain the release of the two pilots, the spokesman said. “Abduction is condemned no matter it takes place in Lebanon, Syria, Afghanistan, or anywhere else,” Araqchi said, adding that Iran would do everything in its capacity to help release the abducted people. Six gunmen intercepted a van carrying the Turkish Airlines employees from Rafik Hariri International Airport to a hotel in the Ain Mreisseh seafront at dawn Friday, kidnapping the two pilots - Murat Akpinar and Murat Agca - but leaving the four other crew members behind, according to Naharnet.
