Iranian regime promises Afghan Shiites Syrian citizenship, homes in Damascus, Aleppo to fight for Assad 12,000 Afghan mercenaries sent to Syria so far 03-11-2014: The ‘Arabi 21’ news site has confirmed that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards are recruiting large numbers of Afghan Shiite refugees from the Hazara peoples of central Afghanistan to fight as mercenaries for Bashar al Assad, with military training reportedly provided at two IRG training camps, one to the north of Tehran and another in the Ahwaz region of Khuzestan province which is run by the Badr Brigades, an Iraqi Shiite mlitia affiliated to the Tehran regime and the Iraqi government, before they are sent to Syria to fight. Credible sources in Iran told the Egyptian news site ‘Arabi 21’ that the IRG’s ‘Mahdi’ camp in Khozestan in the central western region of Iran, located between the towns of Al Muhammarah and Abadan, has recently provided military training for more than 1,200 Afghan mercenaries from the Iranian city of Mashhad. The same sources said that the Afghans were recruited to fight in Syria by promises from the Iranian authorities that they and their families would be given Syrian citizenship and resettled in Damascus, Aleppo and other Syrian cities. They also receive a monthly salary of no more than US$250 to help their families back in Iran. An estimated total of 12,000 Shiite Afghan mercenaries aged between 20 and 35 have so far been recruited to fight for the IRG in Syria and trained at both the camps in Tehran and the Ahwaz region, the sources told ‘Arab 21.’ The families of the Afghan mercenaries fighting in Syria also receive other bonuses, including coupons from the Iranian authorities to ensure that they receive the same monthly rations of rice, meat, oil and sugar as Iranian families and can register their children at Iranian state schools at the state’s expense, the sources added.
