Iraqs Solution It strikes me that Iraq has an obvious solution to the horrendous problems it faces and it really comes down to a question of setting its priorities straight. It won’t be followed and most likely it wont even be considered which say much about the nature of the problem that faces them and the Middle East. Number one would be to admit that differing view points exist. They have existed for almost 2000 years and will more than likely continue to exist for some time into the future. These mostly or even purely religious matters are key issues and the very issues that fuel the permanent wars that exist there. FIND A BACK BURNER FOR THEM. They need not be in the fore. They arent going away so let them sit while you take care of the other more immediate pressing problems. If they could but grasp this one simple concept they would have something akin to “Freedom of Religious Thought”. “Freedom of thought” in general and the ability to untie, at least while they address the other issues. Among those other issues would be the defining and establishment of borders borders, excluding invaders and other unauthorized entry (something we could stand here). This would stop foreign elements from stoking the fires that are already burning. Iraqs enemies want to agitate and aggravate the problems and further destabilize the country to their own advantage. Syria, KEEP OUT! Iran, KEEP OUT, Turkey, KEEP OUT! The US could play a key role in this. Once the borders of Iraq are re-established and its sovereignty respected the once insurmountable becomes limited and doable, solvable. Grant and establish a representation of geopolitical needs from all quarters. Look at such problems and projects as Iraqi problems and projects that Iraqis need to work on soling and doing together. Limit or l religious considerations and especially those that offer no positive solutions to the questions at hand. The promise could be made that each religious faction will have the right, thats RIGHT, to their opinions and expression but not the right to destabilized the State of Iraq. Of course it would be much more complex than I could ever go into here but they need some dry land, a foundation upon which to begin building for the benefit of their people. Hey! Its called CIVILIZATION. Give it a try! The one thing wrong with this plan is that of ignorance and the love of killing and making war. What do they care about civilization? An alternate solution? Arm them all to the teeth and if anybody survives maybe we can negotiate with that person or at least thank him for cleaning the slate.
