Ireland’s Toughest Sprint Triathlon Open for Entries Europcar Brian Boru Triathlon opens for entries with discount for the month of June Ireland’s toughest sprint triathlon is taking place on the 31st August and is now open for entries. A special €5 discount is available for the month of June to celebrate the launch of the race and the new partnership with title sponsors Europcar. The race takes place on the Lough Derg lakeshore at Two Mile Gate, near Killaloe with the Sprint and Olympic distance swims completed in the clean waters of the Lough. Onto the bike and the route is challenging with a lung busting climb up the Ballyloughnane Road followed by a technical descent into Tuamgraney and culminating in a dramatic undulating lake view cycle back to transition. The run course continues to show no mercy, with an extremely steep uphill climb through Ballycuggaran Woods. Competitor’s hard work is rewarded with a spectacular mountain top trail run with fabulous elevated views of Lough Derg followed by a classic off road descent through the woods and back onto the Ballycuggaran road for the final sprint descent to the finish at Two Mile Gate. Race Director Barry Deane commented “We’re looking forward to attracting a top class field back this year and are delighted to be teaming up with Europcar as title sponsors. We aim to provide the best value races we can so are offering a €5 discount for the month of June.” Last year’s Olympic distance race was won by the ever green Trevor Woods on the men’s side while Katie Fitzgerald claimed top spot for the women while the Sprint event was won by Stephen Rooney, a member of the National Junior Squad and the talented Anna Crooks for the ladies.” The Europcar Brian Boru Triathlon is hosted by Ennis Triathlon Club and a portion of the proceeds from the race will benefit Clarisford Park Community Sports Centre in Killaloe. Both experienced and beginner triathletes are encouraged to take part with entries open via triathlonireland
