Irish and Mexicans. At one time, the Irish were considered the Mexicans of Europe. Also, during the Mexican-American War, a whole shit ton of Irish immigrant soldiers (led by Jon Riley) deserted the American Army and joined the Mexican forces. It was known as the St. Patrick Battalion (Battalion de San Patricio), hence why St. Patricks Day is celebrated in Mexico, to honor the Irish who fought and died for Mexico. I live in Old Mexico and I love my home in Old Mexico. And I love the people of Old Mexico and welcome those who wish to return to their homeland of Old Mexico. Peace to my boarder brothers and sisters. Much love and much respect!
