Iron Mikes Cross Country Load List: (What I usually have when I travel the Blue Ridge) 1> Water 2> High Energy Snacks 3> A small pack in case I have to abandon the car. 4> The capability to repair a double-flat (spare tire & patch kit with air pump and extra valve stems inserts) 5> A small selection of hand tools that fit the car. 6> Two jacks. 7> 2 qts of oil 8> 1 gallon of 50/50 coolant mix. 9> Small tarp. 10> Blanket or poncho liner 11> Jacket 12> The best tire guage in the world. 13> The best First Aid Kit in the world (the one you make) FIRE EXTINGUISHER - one rated for gasoline fires! These are the things I usually carry in my trunk while motoring. Dont forget your medications. Nitrogen does funny things in heat and at altitude. Have a good tire gauge and check your tire when cool before heading out, and if you exceed 4,000 in heat, nitrogen filled tires tend to expand. Sue and I learned this out west in the heat when our tires exceeded the manufacturers recommended pressure during regular day time travel. Know what your tire specs are.
