Is APC leaders’ actually political crusader Nigerians waiting - TopicsExpress

Is APC leaders’ actually political crusader Nigerians waiting for? Not doubting about it, every indications clearly indicate that there are two dominant party in the country, with APC contesting the dominance of PDP drawing its membership across the country. Though the truth glared that the PDP led government which started a decade and half ago could have been concluded by Nigerians as failures. Why because, in 1999 when power was transited back to the hands of civilian, much expectation deemed and hope dashed from Nigerians that the nation dilapidated development under the ages of military echelons would witnessed new look of transformation with the coming of democratic government. But there seems no difference since the power was occupied by the PDP, ever 1999 till date. Nigeria under PDP government have consistently been characterized by irregularities ranging from corruption, nepotism, favoritism, godfatherism and to their implications that borders on unemployment, poverty, insecurity and general underdevelopment. As a Nigerian, I wonder and am always wondering over the perpetuality of this cyclic vicious cycle. We Nigerians have failed in our task to this country as the leaders. How many Nigerians as ever questioned the ideological stand of these political parties before joining or voting them to power? Have we ever ask of their written manifestoes? Here comes APC promising new look again, from our past can they be trusted? Having gone through the failures of PDP, I realized APC is nothing but a carryover of PDP. PDP had no ideological stand likewise APC, no manifestoes altogether. Then why are Nigerians clamoring APC? The recently concluded APC registration had showed no difference between these two parties. As a spectator I went to their registration point to observe whether there is anything written as manifesto which would serve as sine qua non for Nigerians to accept them, but what I met was bellow my expectation. Nothing like that is visible. Then, how do we take accused them if they failed to their task? Has Nigerians never learned from past mistake? Are we preparing again to plunge ourselves in to the same pit dug by PDP leaders swapping towards new acronym of APC wholeheartedly without recourse to our nerves? Why are we Nigerians so myopic in foresight? Haven’t we read from the media how day-in day-out first generation PDP leaders switching to APC on no ideological basis? Have we ever ask why? Is there any rationality behind those political switching happening around Nigeria politics? Under normal democratic circumstance, can we regard parties in Nigeria as political parties? Do they have those features of being termed as pol. parties? In my own history and historiography of the study of political party. Political party are nothing but the rally point for political orientation. It comprises of people of a common interest having a common beliefs and goal. This goal is achieved through the unique principle common to each party struggling to attained political height of a state. And such principle can be gauge through ideological stand. Why I wonder? Parties in Nigeria are not ideologically inclined. The ideological posture of a political party is geared towards a certain model of development. It can be welfarist pro-masses or liberalist pro-riches fundamentalism. Which can clearly be notified through explicit manifestoes of parties. Such manifesto would strictly be guarded by party leaders and their members in protecting the dignity of their party against their elected candidate. But such is missing in Nigeria parties. In my dear country, political party is conceive and practiced as a bias oriented group striving towards satisfying the interest of a patronage network instead of being a vehicle for social and economic development. These are basic things we don’t know about our political reality and we don’t ask? We all want to be partisan simply because our parents, friends and relatives belongs to one party or other. No! Political party is above that. However, a case studies of some of states presently under the APC influence will be buttress to really determine whether APC leaders possess the right linen of qualities which will sooth Nigeria attire. APC have been singing to the moon promising to change the circumstance of Nigeria politics; to transform the nation overnight. Consider Lagos in explication, where Fashola is just confusing people round with capitalist jargon of policies that had no traces of impact on the lives of the populace. He had turn Lagos to a state where poor man cannot live. Speak of it from the angle of education, Lagos institutions are the most expensive public tertiary schools in the face of the society that have a considerable population of illiterates. To me, he’d clearly demonstrated that he’s such a rabbit capitalist man and that his party is a pro-riches oriented party with a manifesto of capitalism. Anchored through collection of high tax and deportation unleashed internally to the poor Nigerians living in Lagos which cannot afford to pay, under the pretext of salvaging Lagos. Can anyone sight difference between what is going on in Abuja and Lagos? Such manifesto is also in practice in Ogun State where marginalization policy is in practice and unleashed over the people of Yewa. Amosun had concentrated his development policy to Egba and Ijebu alone and mostly to the cities, leaving the rural part unaffected. Then, what different can we see between PDP led Gov. in the Federal and the States under APC? This leaves me to just conclusion that APC leaders are well to be suspected in their perfunctory attitude as same mammon we had been worshiping for years in the PDP under distorted label. Nigerians must shine eyes and be sensitive! ____________________________________________________________________ By ALABI AHMAD
