Is Congress Really Secular? Hyderabad is a place of diversified - TopicsExpress

Is Congress Really Secular? Hyderabad is a place of diversified people and diversified cultures which includes Telengana, Seemandhra, Gujarat, Parsis, Bengalis, Lodhas, Punjabis, and Tamilians etc. But predominantly it is a Muslim State under the rule of Erstwhile Nizam of Hyderabad, up to 1953. Until 2000, Hyderabad is a pot boiler for communal riots, with BJP leading in front against the minority community of the city. From 1970 to 2000 more than 1000 people died from both the communities because of these communal riots. In fact communal riots became a tool for changing the Congress Chief Ministers. New millennium bought Industrial revolution in Hyderabad especially in the areas of IT, Pharma, Precision Components, Bio Technology, Packing , Real Estate etc, which resulted in influx of people from different parts of the nation particularly from Seemandhra as most of the entrepreneurs are from that region. This development and influx of people acted as a catalyst for stopping these communal riots and not even on single communal death reported since then except for few stray incidents. A culture developed where in people worked hard during the week and enjoyed the weekend with family, this resulted in communal harmony. Every now and then BJP tried to destabilize the communal harmony by way of Hanuman Jayanthi Rallies and Ganesh Nimajjan rallies, but failed to do so. With the Congress decision of dividing the state of Andhra Pradesh and giving the Hyderabad to Telangana will only expose the minority community to the BJP and History repeats. In spite of the stiff opposition from the India’s largest minority party MIM, Congress is bent upon giving Hyderabad to Telangana. This action of Congress creates doubt on its “Secular Party” credentials and shows that Congress is hand in glove with BJP as far as suppression of Minorities in Hyderabad are concerned and that might be one of the reasons why BJP is also giving its unconditional support to Congress for passing the bill in Parliament. I request all the learned Members of Parliament cutting across party lines, to vote against the Telangana Bill keeping in view the best interests of the minorities of Hyderabad.
