Is Fruit Good or Bad For You? Just read a fantastic article on The Sweet Tooth of fruit. Im asked constantly am I eating too much fruit because of all the sugar? My answer is almost always No. For some time now Ive been aware of the argument that fruit consumption should be kept to a minimum because of its sugar content through fructose and sugar is bad right? Sugar is bad, but, just like all calories arent the same, the same can be said for sugar. For example, the sugar you get from a can of fizzy drink isnt the same as that which you would get from an apple. As such, the two different sugars effect the body differently. On top of that, you dont get any of the health benefits from a can of pop that you would from a piece of fruit. THE BOTTOM LINE: I seriously doubt anyone can add enough fruit to their diet to cause harm or weight gain. If anything, adding extra fruit to your diet will result in weight loss due to the added fibre, water, nutrients and reduced calories from elsewhere due to improved satiety.
