Is anyone else confused about this? Benedict XVI shocked the world in February 2013 when he became the first pope to resign in almost 600 years. But attention shifted quickly to the succession, and the election of the new Pope, Francis. Amid the drama, one question was never fully answered - why did Benedict quit? Why is he still hiding out in the Vatican? There are so many unanswered questions and people blindly accept the lies that the media is saying. There are so many conflicting ideas, articles, conspiracy theories, and reasons. Also, it is so strange why they beatified two popes on the same day (Pope John XXIII and Pope John Paul II) were beatified despite so few miracles. Both of these former Popes were supporters and contributors to the Second Vatican Counsel. Additionally, the Vatican announced in May 2014 that another Vatican II supporter, Pope Paul VI is to be beatified October 19, 2014.
