Is it just me, or do pro-sports exist only to represent manifestations of corrupted, nearly mythical economic systems? MLB has an absurdly powerful union willing to cover up massive cheating, where players get fully guaranteed money regardless of performance (cronily capitalistic unionism). The NFL is the most lucrative of major American sports, but has one of the weakest unions and little guaranteed money for athletes who actually run a serious risk of debilitating injury (exploitative Dickensian workshop capitalism). The NBA features some guaranteed money for somewhat limited career duration, but also an absurdly complicated set of economic caps, regulations, idiocies that take away owner and player freedom, all run by a very short, all-powerful commissar (commandish beaurohell socialism). Hockey is, well, hockey (distributivism? dental insurance?). And fueling this chaos, this fresh hell of abused hundredsofthousanders and millionaires are all of us (battered-spousish, punitively gluttonous, non-fungibly addicted closed autarky). hmmm.
