Is it possible to be to COOL for school? Or if I say He is to great for his own good who do you think of? LeBron James, Tiger Woods, one obvious name right now would be Donald Sterling, the NBA owner. Or maybe you go all the way back to the High School football star that always got the girl. Or the beauty queen with the brains, we all know someone. Lets face it, some people really are blessed, full of talent, vision, character, dedication, they are just impressive. And when we get to witness them doing their thing it is AMAZING. Then we get also see what happens when PRIDE, creeps into their worlds, its almost like they sabotage themselves, they look like they want to sel-destruct, what happens? Why? Cant they see it? Why do we always see PRIDE as someone elses problem? Pride is the persons issue that has MORE. More muscles, more money, more house, more vacations, Its not my issue its a more issue. But the truth is, that Pride is a hidden cancer that can eat us away from the inside out. We hide it so well, or so we think. Pride is a heart issue that brings opposition to God. In James, we are taught God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble! Sounds like another Paradox, opposing truths. Here we are trying to achieve, to be better, to be who and what we are meant to be and yet we need to understand the measure. How do we measure ourselves? The only measure is to compare ourselves with the ONE Jesus. Oh Boy! Hear the ballon deflating noise, that is my head! We will never realize how great we are NOT, until we are sized up to Jesus. He is our standard for the GREAT Life! Opposing Truths: The greater we become in God, the less about US our lives become. We need to strip away our self-reliance and become more reliant on God. The higher we RISE in Jesus, the LOWER we are willing to go for others. When we finally realize that living an amazing life, a life of PUPOSE, isnt about ME, but it is about living to Glorify the ONE, to live up to His measure, is the real key. Even those Rock Star people, struggle. Behind the red carpet, behind the highlight videos, the photoshopped images there are the same real issues we all face. The sel-doubt, the fears, the struggles. At some point EVERY person will come to the discovery, the realization, that even the best life away from God is worthless!! So true Greatness, not Man made, but God breathed comes from a life of service. The son ofGod did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many. Mathew 20:28 If it wasnt about Jesus, it certainly cant be about me. Its not about my desires, comforts, goals, pleasures or my greatness, but its about HIS. Opposing Truths: Whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the Gospel will save it. Pride is a very tough part of us to leave behind, it is so a part of our ME culture. We are always posturing, positioning, looking for the next best thing. But TRUTH: The LOWER we go for God, the HIGHER God will take you. Happy Hump Day!
