Is it right to focus on healing hurts and make using the law - TopicsExpress

Is it right to focus on healing hurts and make using the law against sins in our sermons simply one of the things to preach about or to avoid it? Do the following examinations before you and may the Lord help you in your personal growth to make his law against your sins central to all your meditation and deeds for God. 1) Check out the relationship between sin and hardwork, sin and success, sin and peace, sin and comfort, sin and encouragement, sin and hope, sin and relationships, sin and totally everything in life in the Bible do so and see if there is any reason why any God-fearing preacher should seek to comfort people and put it aside. Besides, consider that the consequences of every sin is far more than any pains the world and anyone has or can ever experience because it is the breaking of God’s law; the treating with contempt, the Holiness of God’s law and a direct rebellion against God’s authority. 2) If you accept that God is the giver of peace, comfort and all our needs, and not that success, achievements, hardwork etc is the source of lasting peace, joy, meaningful life etc then consider how important it is to always challenge a people to deal with their sin in other to make way for the God of all peace and comfort to be their portion at all times. 3) Next consider the following: From creation till this date, the people in Bible times felt and experienced more hurt, inexplicable hurt than us in this electronic age. To them God gave all 66 books of the Bible to encourage, strengthen, restore hope, give direction, empower through increasing revelation of who he is to them. There are so many books in the Bible written specifically to encourage and to comfort. Show me anyone of them and I will show you how central the use of the law and preaching against sin according to the gospel is in them. More so, some of them are painfully stern against sins – yet they are books of comfort. Ask yourself then, where do these other hope-giving preachers take their style of preaching apart from using the law in a good gospel way? Is it giving sugary stuff to children according to the children’s definition of sweet is good? 4) Paul shows us in what he says and will say about law and sin in this book that using the law against sins according to the gospel is central to the birth of Christians; central to the growth of Christians and central to the hope of Christians, central to the church from its birth to its glorification at the second coming of Jesus. Therefore to push it aside or discard it completely is to break down the walls of protection around believers and make room for thieves in ministers robes to come in and deceive and destroy the flock. It is to make room for the sinful nature in man to catch fire and burn with all kinds of wild desires and pursue all kinds of earthly things blaspheming God in the name of worshiping God. If the law is being misused, proof it by the Bible. If the law is being misused, instead of discarding it, show how in that case or context Biblically the law should be used; begin to speak up for its right use and be an example of one who studies the word to imitate the way it is used in the Bible.
