Is making pasta from scratch a money saver? Probably not if your pasta is super cheap. But if you were buying comparable quality pasta, then yes. A batch of homemade egg noodles costs me 20 cents for the flour, and $2 for the eggs, and about 20 cents more for salt and very high quality olive oil. ($2.40) It makes about 2 lbs. and feeds 10 to 12 people. It doesnt take much more time (about 30 min. hands on time) to make it from scratch as it does to put a box of noodles in a pot and boil. And nutritionally homemade is superior.
