Is there a chance the Chicago Bears can trade Jay Cutler and unload the remainder of his contract? Most of you may think we are stuck with Jay Cutler because of the guaranteed money Cutler is still owed. After listening to a couple experts today and some of my own research. I believe the Bears have better than a 50% chance of unloading Jay. Think I am crazy then read these facts before you comment. Teams that will look for a change at the quarterback position: 1) Buffalo Bills 2) Tennessee Titans 3) Washington Redskins 4) Tampa Bay Buccaneers 5) Houston Texans 6) St. Louis Rams Teams that may consider a quarterback change 7) NY Jets 8) Chicago Bears 9) Philadelphia Eagles 10) Arizona Cardinals Free Agents QBs 2015 1) Brian Hoyer 2) Michael Vick 3) Mark Sanchez 4) Jake Locker 5) Christian Ponder 6) Shaun Hill 7) Matt Moore 2015 QBs likely declare & be drafted in first 2 rounds 1) Marcus Mariota 2) Jameis Winston Now think real hard and do the math: 1) 6 teams (Bears not included) want to upgrade their QB position. 2) There is not one free agent QB in free agency that I would pick over Jay Cutler. (I am not a fan of Cutler) 3) NFL draft experts are predicting Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota will be the only 2 quarterbacks to declare for the draft and have a 1st or 2nd round draft grade. Experts are predicting there will be a HUGE drop off in talent after those 2 are off the board. Jameis has so much negative press against him he may even slip in drafts. Fact- 2015 may go down as one of the worst free agent season ever for quarterbacks and one of the worst overall draft classes for quarterbacks. Bottom Line- The Bears would be fools not to attempt to unload Cutler this off season. There is a realistic chance you may find a desperate owner or gm willing to take a chance on Cutler.
