Is there trouble in Paradise? I was accosted by a legislator at a recent party as I was passing out cards for one of my favorite new candidates because as he put it, ...your people arent attending my fund raisers or sending me money... This line of thinking has problems for me. First of all, I dont believe in owning people. If he was speaking of the LGBT community, that would be a compliment and an honor to be part of the LGBT community. Anyway, since I dont have a full time job and depend on my generous husband and my meek Social Security check, I dont have tons of funds for political campaigns. So I suggested that he touch bases with the guys with the big bucks, Equality Hawaii. He laughed and said that I should know they are never around. I didnt have any answers for him as I didnt have the $5,000.00 to $10,000.00 a few years ago to join their board with the Non-Profit I was volunteering with at the time. So I dont consider myself a member of Equality Hawaii. I also didnt have the $$$ for the big galas they have so often. Im just a country mouse and do what I can with what little I have. BTW, he said that he and the others had put their neck out there and had problem with my people not supporting them now. I will say that my blood pressure shot up with that line because in my book, he didnt put his neck out there but rather did his job as a Democrat and voted for Social Justice and if his neck was out there it was for the US Constitution. He and I apparently dont read from the same book!!! ;)
