Is this going to be just another Y2K Bug frenzy of hysteria? NEWS ALERT: Our computers related to infrastructure are infected with Trojan horse malware (a virus) that could take down all of our banks, energy, water.... Sound familiar? Many years ago (about 15 to be exact, though it seems just like yesterday to some of us!), there was a huge amount of hysteria involving the Y2K Bug that was supposed to shut down big computers across America, and even globally. It was a big topic for the doomsday prophets of the time, as they claimed and explained how we wouldnt be able to access our banks and ALL of our infrastructure such the energy companies and water providers would suddenly crash at midnight on January 1, 2000. The hardware and software updates were done in plenty of time, and very few of us, probably none of us, suffered the loss of our electricity or water. In the mean time, survivalist companies were born and many did very well. Many of them are still around, and are probably now licking their chops. This could be another boom for them when word of this gets out. Before we sink our hard-earned funds into stocking up on food, guns and ammo, supplies, generators, water barrels, etc., lets consider a few things. First, lets consider the fact that this has now been in the news. That is great news, because it means that our cyber-security experts and Homeland Security are aware of the threat of this malware. It was an interesting story, but may not deserve a long news cycle as did the Y2K bug story of the late 1990s. Second thing to contemplate is the fact that you will hear all kinds of experts getting on late-night radio shows to tell the host and the audience that listens to the radio after midnight how horrible everything is going to get, really soon. (However, we dont know when it will happen, and that is clearly stated in this story.) The guest experts will either have a stake in survival gear or a book that is soon to come out... or both. Your guess about that is as good as mine, but Ill not be surprised to see conspiracy theorists say that the malware will be activated a few days before the inauguration of the next President in January of 2017. Let the media-driven hysteria and advertising frenzy begin. Just sayin...
