Ismail Omar new ambassador to France: KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 14 — Former Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar is one of six new Malaysian envoys who received their instruments of appointment today from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, at the Istana Negara. Ismail is the country’s new ambassador to France. The three other new ambassadors and two new high commissioners are Datuk Salman Ahmad (Germany), Datuk Rohana Ramli (South Korea), Raszlan (rpt) Raszlan Abdul Rashid (Cambodia), Datuk Awang Sahak Awang Salleh (Brunei Darussalam) and Jilid Kuminding alias Zainuddin (Papua New Guinea), respectively. Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman was also present at the presentation of the instruments of appointment. Ismail, 60, who has a law degree from the International Islamic University of Malaysia, had served the Royal Malaysia Police for 40 years since 1971. Salman had been the country’s high commissioner to Australia and had also served at several of Malaysia’s foreign missions, including in the Czech Republic, India, Japan and Thailand. Rohana had served as Malaysia’s permanent representative to the United Nations in Geneva and as the country’s ambassador to Argentina. Raszlan had been Malaysia’s deputy high commissioner to India and had also served in Kosovo and Thailand. Jilid had been the country’s consul-general in Hong Kong and had also served in Sweden and Namibia. Awang Sahak, who holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Rural Technology) degree from Wageningen University of the Netherlands, is the former director of the Sabah Department of Veterinary Services and Animal Industry.
