Isnt just because its illegal and theyre rare? I dont think its particularly Chinese oligarchs only who like to torture things, its a pretty common trait among our .01% as well. They dont call CEOs the Psychopath Class for nothing. Clearly it cant be because tigers taste good... most predator meat doesnt, and any animal which is tortured prior to death pumps all sorts of nasty-flavored hormones into its muscles in fight-or-flight response. No, its just fun to kill rare things if youre the kind of hyper-wealthy psycho who can get away with anything. Its the same reason hyper-rich idiots love shark-teeth necklaces or gorilla-paw-ashtrays or elphant-ivory cocaine spoons. Hyper-rich people want stuff the average person cant buy, and nothing has the scarcity allure of killing or eating or smoking or snorting an endangered species. Frankly, what they should do when they catch these guys is to throw them into the Tigers cage so they can experience the rare allure of being eaten by an endangered species. Experience that exotic dynamic in reverse.
