Isnt that something? An interesting display just when I was going to share some thoughts on how Japanese-American relations evolved since the American Occupation of 1945-1952. The occupation authorities dismounted the army, the big japanese trusts (zaibatsu) responsible for the imperialist, aggressive politics of Tokyo. General Douglas Mac Arthur re-established democracy, the right to unionize and freedom of the Press. Women were given the right to vote, the emperor renounced his divine character and Japan renounced its right to wage war. Their drive to conquer and to dominate (Korea, China, the US (i.e. Pearl Harbour attack...) came to an abrupt end in Hiroshima and Nagasaki when the US launched the first atomic bombs in response to the Japanese deadly attack on Pearl Harbour. And after all this, a wonderful miracle occurred. The Japanese economic miracle made of Japan the 2nd largest economy in the world after the USA. Being very gifted learners, they imitated at first to later become first-class innovators and inventors. Can we hope for a similar miracle to occur in the Middle-East?
