Israel Experience 2014: When you put your hands in the ground and feel the dirt of Israel from two millennium of the past you realize the Gospel authors knew what they were doing when they wrote their texts. They understood the geography, topography, and landscape of ancient Roman Palestine and accurately described the land of Jesus of Nazareth. From my first time here in 2010 to now archaeologists have continued to uncover a plethora of finds connecting Jesus to his world. We are literally just scratching the surface. Visiting Israel continues to transform the way I read the ancient Scriptures. I cant imagine someone reading the Bible their entire life and never standing in the places where the events occurred. Standing in Capernaum, Migdal, Bethsaida, the Golan Heights, and Jerusalem (among many others) makes my heart pound. The Jesus tradition was passed on very accurately.
