Israeli flags wave freely from every door post, car, and building. Blue and white are the colors that the children are proudly wearing. Smiles, laughs, and celebration fill the street. Mourners wipe the tears of sadness from their eyes, and replace them with tears of awe, thanksgiving, and joy. The transition from Israel Memorial Day to Israel Independence Day (which took place tonight at 8pm Israel time) is so raw, beautiful, and pure. Yes, we pledge to never forget the holocaust, the Israeli soldiers we have lost, and the terror victims, but we also vow to never drown in those tears. We will forever thank God for what He gives us, because He is purely good. Happy 66th birthday, Israel! I feel blessed to call you my home.
