Issue Two poet Sam Frankl spent four months last year traveling the US, asking strangers to read his poetry. He captured the readings in a series of short films called The Surrogate Poets. Dane Weatherman, Editor of Black & Blue (blackbluewriting/surrogatepoets) describes the project as part snap-shot of contemporary American experience, part poetic experiment, part travelogue, saying that these films document points of a journey across America and come together as an overall work that is intimate, metonymic, obscure, sometimes vulnerable and alienating.
