Issued by Jim Boyd on behalf of the following ASSF fisheries on Monday 18 November 2013.The following report is for the week ending Sunday, 17 November 2103. FORBES OF KINGENNIE (Broughty Ferry). A week of settled weather at Forbes of Kingennie has seen some very consistent fishing on all the ponds. The water clarity continues to improve and the water is now very clear and has really helped the catch rates. The Bankside has fished well since reopening but none of the big fish that were stocked had made an appearance until Tony McCabe managed to a land a 14lb 4oz rainbow. Tony was fishing a Hot Head Damsel on an intermediate line in the first bay by the inflow pipe. Most of the fish have been very well spread out but the first bay has been the hot spot. Lures continue to dominate as the most popular method but with the improved water clarity theres been a lot more fish caught on nymphs with a wee bit of red in them. Mr Barlow had a productive morning landing 14 fish fishing Diawl Bachs on the washing line. The Boathouse has been quite quiet this week but those who have fished it have done very well. Blobs and Leggy Bloodworms have taken most of the fish. Mr McHardy took 2 fish for 13lb 6oz. Mr Gillespie had a 9lb 3oz rainbow on a Hare’s Ear. The Burnside has continued to produce a lot of fish on a number of methods but a sinking line and lures or Blobs fished quickly is catching most fish. Olive Buzzers have been the best nymphs and even small dries have taken fish when the weather settles. Mr Dickson returned 13 fish on wee stuff on Wednesday. Mr Simpson did very well on Saturday retuning 16 fish in just a few hours. The Woodside is still fishing really well with most fish falling to Powerbait under a float or spinners. Mr Pitcaithly and his fishing partner had a morning to remember on Sunday taking 16 fish for 24 lb. Mr Higgins took the best fish on the week with a 2lb 14oz brown caught on a spinner. MARKLE (East Lothian) It was a bit quiet last week but the catch and release anglers who pitched up had some excellent sport. Bruce Hunter from Edinburgh had 10 including a splendid 12lb 8oz rainbow on a Black Damsel and Tommy Dickson from Dunbar had 14 including specimens of 8lbs 8oz and 9lbs 8oz. Others doing well included Tom Russell from Earlston with 10 on Buzzers, Mick Mulgrew, Danderhall, 7 on a Black Rabbit, Alex Rowley, Rosewell, 7 on a Black Fritz and Paul Kennedy from Haddington took 9 on a Black & Green Rabbit. ORCHILL LOCH (Braco) It has been a very mixed week with the fish being caught at varying depths depending on the wind - a wide variety of flies have been taking fish including Buzzers, Nymphs, Damsel Nymph, Green Fritz, Pink Fritz and the now famous Ally McCoist.Tom McEwan from Fallin had 4 fish for 16lbs – best 7lbs 4oz on a Red Fritz, Ron Lusher, Perth, 3 for 13lbs on a Diawl Bach, Lister Cummings, Greenloaning, had a brace weighing 8lbs on a Blue Damsel and David West from Dundee took 3 fish for 7lbs 8oz on Nymphs. Jack Gibb from Clackmannan had 2 fish for 6lbs on a Coral Fritz, Jim Prentice, Tullibody, 4 for 12lbs on a Green & White Fritz, Alec Fitzsimons, Fintry, 4 for 12lbs 4oz on a Black & Orange Fritz and David Brown from Dumbarton took 3 for 10lbs on Buzzers. John Wright from Stirling had 4 for 14lbs 12oz on a Black & Gold Fritz. SWANSWATER (Stirling) There was some excellent fishing this week with the days when there was a breeze being much better than the calm days. The fish were generally being caught between 3 and 6 feet down. The front of the island and the channel was the most popular area during the week with anglers having success at the roadside for the first time in a number of weeks. At the weekend the fish were more spread out and were being caught all round. The small ponds were fishing very well at the weekend both for those taking fish and those choosing to catch and release. Small lures fished on an intermediate line with a reasonably fast retrieve was the most successful method this week, although some were also catching fish on static buzzers. Favourite patterns included Cat’s Whisker, Dancer, Damsel, Montana, Hare’s Ear and Buzzer. The Fishery is now closing at 4.30pm. The Fishery is well prepared for the frost that is forecast for this week with the aerators in place, ready to go!
