It Is Well!!! (Ecclesiastes 8:12) Over the past few weeks, I have received calls that should make my heart faint. Please be careful, has been the general theme. All I hear is how dangerous and desperate these people are. Some have openly said that I am coming up with The Kingdom Project to fight government. This is absolutely ridiculous! Exactly what is The Kingdom Project (AKS), all about? The project simply seeks to put systems and structures in place to ensure the election of God-fearing leaders. Has this not been the prayer of all of us? Is this a crime? Is there anything wrong in this? Should this not receive the support of ALL well-meaning citizens? First, let me make it clear that these threats are not exactly empty. Usually those that want to be more catholic than the pope, the sycophants would seek to impress their masters by going where they were never sent. It is therefore the responsibility of every office seeker to make it clear that they will not condone any innocent blood in their camp. It will not be enough to feign ignorance while hoping to benefit from the spoils, on innocent blood. As 2015 approaches, it has become absolutely necessary and inevitable that I make this solemn appeal to all and sundry. First, it must be understood and appreciated that the right to vie for any political office, and the right to support any aspirant or candidate, are the fundamental rights that we all have simply by being citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It is therefore wrong, improper and unfair for anyone to have any form of resentment against another person who seeks to vie for a particular office, or exercises his franchise by supporting anyone of his choice for any reason that such a person so deems. It is in the light of these rights that I sincerely appeal to, and call on all Akwa Ibom citizens to perish the thought of taking the life of any man simply because of differed political opinion. Life is sacred, and, no matter how it seems today, no man will ever go unpunished for contemplating, or ever harboring the thought of killing or even maiming, or rendering incapacitated, another person for exercising his or her freewill. I call on all our elders to condemn violence in any and every form, from this time till when the elections come in 2015. I call on our church leaders to preach against, to condemn, and to declare as unacceptable in the strongest possible terms, these threats to life, and the intolerance of the rights of others. I call on all our women to pray against losing the life of any of our children. I call on all our intercessors to lift their voices in supplication to our Almighty God against blood thirsty spirits masquerading as political thugs and jobbers. We must all stand up for the sanctity of every life in our state, and our country at large. I believe that if we all lift our voices to speak against that which is wrong, and to supplicate our God, we will be able to have blood-free elections; elections built on the principles of engaging the people, elections based on presentation of superior arguments. At the end of the day, we will be able to have leaders emerge from Governorship down to Counselorship elections who are the choices of the people, -where love and accommodation reign supreme.
