It Might Be Today Luke 12:16-21, Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully. And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops? So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry. But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided? So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God. I want to direct our thoughts to verses 19-20. Sometimes it is easy for people to think they have many years left. But that is a foolish perspective. We need to live like we will meet with the Lord tonight. That doesnt mean you dont work towards the future; it doesnt mean you dont save. In fact, the Bible says a righteous man leaves an inheritance for his childrens children. But we need to live in such a way that we will not be ashamed because we have left all sorts of unused and undesignated funds sitting in the bank that are not going to do anybody any good. Someday we will have to stand before Jesus and give an account for all of our stuff. And that may be sooner than later! Are you ready to meet with Jesus, he said we ought to be always ready for we dont know the hour. It can be now or the next 10 years, we are just not certain. People who passed on, most of them never thought it would happen to them when it did. They had their plans and goals that they didnt live to fulfil. You see, we just have to be always ready for our eternal departure to meet with the Lord. Stay connected to your saviour and just wait upon him. Happy New Year.
