It came out in 1973, the year I graduated high school. Tempest. The debut eponymous album, and it was radical to say the least. As heavy as you like it - before the term heavy metal was ever even conceived, let alone applied to music as a descriptive for an art form. Comprised of four musicians at their seminal best, emerging from the 60s, baring their musical influences in plain view as they forged ahead into uncharted waters of a newly emerging fusion movement in the early 70s. Tempest was Mark Clarke (bass, keyboards, vocals), Jon Hiseman (drums, percussion), Allan Holdsworth (guitars, vocals, violin), and Paul Williams (guitar, keyboards, vocals). The entire album, including the art work, is a work of art and worth the listen. The composition featured here, called Gorgon, opened the album. youtu.be/ckImG_MzWl0
