It can be confused with Virginia Creeper (Parthenocissus quinquefolia), but Creeper has 5 leaves usually whereas Poison Ivy only 3. Virginia Creeper can also cause irritation in some and if you get it in your eyes-go to a Doctor asap as it contains...They all containoxalic acid, bothfree andasmicroscopic needle‐like crystals of calcium oxalate (raphides), located in special mucilage containing cells (idioblasts). When the leaf/stem of an aroid is crushed (or chewed) the idioblast tips break off. The mucilage then swells as it absorb water affecting a rapid mass expulsion of raphides. On contact with sap from broken aroid stems, the released raphides can cause localized irritant dermatitis and eye injury.: miami-dade.ifas.ufl.edu/pdfs/urban_hort/Calkins%2063%20Poisonous%20plants.pdf
